News: Immigrant stories solicited
The Berkshire Eagle reports on work by Anjali Waikar, our Equal Justice Works Fellow, to collect more information about charges that local law enforcement agents are asking people about their immigration status during routine traffic stops. Gov. Deval Patrick rescinded the previous policy of doing this, arguing that state troopers have the right to make these checks but should not routinely be doing the work of federal authorities.
